Gordon Farnsworth

Gordon Robert Farnsworth, 70, of Mountain Home, was called home on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010.

He was surrounded by his loving family at his home.

A viewing was held on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010 at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Funeral Services were held on Monday, Dec. 6, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Burial, with military honors by American Legion Post 26, was held at Mountain View Cemetery.

Gordon was born April 20, 1940, to William and Elda Farnsworth. He graduated from Port Henry High School in 1959.

He entered the US Air Force on Dec. 28, 1959, as an air/ground equipment mechanic. After graduating from technical school he was stationed at numerous stateside bases and overseas throughout his career.

While stationed at Ramstein AFB, he met the love of his life, Chris. They married on Oct. 3, 1964, in Germany. They were married for 47 years. Together, they had four daughters.

After spending several years in Germany he received orders in 1976 for Mountain Home AFB. Gordon retired from active duty after serving 26 dedicated years and continued to reside in Mountain Home.

After retirement from the Air Force, Gordon worked for Micron for 11 years and then worked for Hewlett-Packard for five years, where he made many great friends.

He had a love for the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping with family and friends. He was quite a hunter. He hunted on Dog Mountain for many years with his sons-in-law, grandsons and friends. Over the years we all referred to Dog Mountain as Gordon's Mountain because he knew it so well.

His hobby was prospecting for gold. He enjoyed panning for gold and researching the Old West history of the Oregon Trail and the old ghost towns in Idaho. He spent many summers with his family knee deep in streams where he showed them how to pan for gold.

Gordon also loved his loyal dog, Tanner. Tanner traveled with them everywhere they went. The bond between them was so strong and Tanner was very protective of Gordon. Those that came to visit Tanner would let him know.

Gordon was a wonderful husband and father. He was proud of his daughters.

He loved to tease them and you could always count on him for a good joke.

He had a special way about him. He touched everyone he met. The memories his family and friends have of him will remain with them always.

Gordon is survived by his wife, Chris, daughters Martina (Steve) Giove of Mountain Home, Juanita (Joe) Ortega of Mountain Home, Donna (Tom) Wohosky of Mountain Home and Michelle (Wade) Fairchild of Buhl, granddaughters Natasha (Will) Pilcher, Christina (Antonio) Bicandi, Sarah, Brooke and Elise, and grandsons Kevin, Cody and Casey, and a great granddaughter, Alexis. He has numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by both parents, his brothers, Elmer and Babe, and a sister, Grace Budwick.
