Annual Shop With A Cop event scheduled

Thursday, November 25, 2010

Close to 120 children from the Mountain Home area will bring some holiday joy to their families next weekend during an event that helps them share in the spirit of giving.

Celebrating its 14th anniversary in Mountain Home, the local Shop With A Cop program helps children of families with extreme financial hardships buy gifts for their loved ones in time for Christmas.

"Times are hard. Some of these parents are having a tough time trying to make ends meet," said Police Sgt. Rick Viola, a spokesman with the city police department. "Many of them don't know how they're going to be able to share Christmas with their kids."

  • What a great thing for the needy children of Mountain Home. I've donated my change all year long and am proud to say that. It may not be alot but every penny helps. Way to go Mountain Home.

  • I love this program, my boys took part a couple times when they were little and they loved being able to purchase gifts for the family. My thanks to Rick and all others that make this possible for some of the needy families in town. God Bless!
