Members of the Mountain Home Tiger girls cross county team pose with their medals following their race at the District Cross Country Meet at Eagle Island State Park last Thursday. The girls qualified as a team for this week's state meet at Soda Springs. In addition, two Mountain Home boys also qualified to run during the state competition.

The Mountain Home Tiger girls cross country team finished second at the District Cross Country Meet at Eagle Island State Park last Thursday and qualified as a team for this week's state meet at Soda Springs.

Two Tiger boys also qualified to run at the state meet.

Bishop Kelly won the girls meet with 31 points. Mountain Home was second with 68. Skyview was a distant third with 98. Kuna had 101 points, Emmett 105, Middleton 157, Columbia 160 and Nampa 178.

Sarah Richins led Mountain Home with a fifth-place finish. Her time of 20:00.71 was her best.

Jordan Vivier's time of 20:04.76 was her best and put her in seventh place. Arisha Karren also ran her best time (20:27.50) and came in ninth. Kacee Cameron was 23rd with her best time of 21:07.59. Haley Schaefer came in 24th with a best time of 21:11.78. Shelby Henrick's best time of 21:30.46 placed her 29th and Alicia Reynolds finished 44th with a personal best time of 23:11.70.

Ashley Mayberry led the Mountain Home JV runners with a time of 22:24.10, which placed her fourth in the JV meet. McKenzie Door was 10th (23:18.15), Kayle Wheeler was 19th (24:55.51) and Shalonda Reed finished 29th (25:07.08).

Bishop Kelly also won the boys' district race. The Knights had 39 points, Kuna was second with 71, Skyview had 90, Middleton and Columbia both had 140, Mountain Home was sixth with 156, followed by Nampa at 159 and Emmett with 170.

The top four teams qualified for state, as well as the top 19 individual runners.

Dylan Johnson and Mike Price both qualified.

Johnson finished with a personal best time of 17:07.31.

Mike Price was 16th with a new PR of 17:31.33.

Jake Schaefer bested his best time with a 18:56.56, good for 37th, John Dodge came in 45th (19:10.80), Taylor Croft was 48th (19:19.91), Daniel Courtright was 49th with a new PR (19:29.17) and Steven Kreche finished 50th, also with a new PR (19:29.21).

Peyton Cline led the Mountain Home JV runners, finishing 33rd in the JV meet with a time of 20:27.09. Andy Croft was 35th (20:33.77), Alex Burke 43rd (20:58.54) and Andrew Turner was 49th with a new PR of 21:23.72.

"I was proud of the kids efforts. They all ran well, with many new PRs for the season or their careers," said Tiger cross country coach Doug Root.

The Tigers head to Soda Springs for the state meet this Saturday. They ran the course on Sept. 4.

"That (Sept. 4 meet) was our first taste of running a hilly course," said Coach Root.

"We have practiced running hilly courses since then, so I think we should do well there."
