County gets first look at planned community

Thursday, October 28, 2010

Elmore County's Planning and Zoning Commission held the first in a series of public hearings Oct. 20 regarding a proposal to build a planned community west of Mountain Home.

If approved by county commissioners in coming months, the Mayfield Springs Planned Community would encompass 761 acres of agricultural land north of the interstate at the border of Elmore and Ada counties.

Capable of serving approximately 10,000 people, the project calls for building 4,232 residential dwelling units over a 25-year period, said Mark Pecchenino, president of Pecchenino and Associates.

Yes, more homes to sit empty and lower everyone's property (home) values. Whose idiotic idea is this? Here is an idea let's get some industry, jobs, and businesses to open up first before we expand our housing and water usage. I will vote for any commissioner against this.

  • What are they thinking? I live on the north side of town by the freeway where all those big new homes have been going up the last couple years, lots of empty home lots still sitting and Brand New homes still sitting empty and rotting away, yeah we need more homes now. At this rate I'll never be able to sell my home and take the equity to buy another one.
