Routine traffic stop turns into drug bust

Police found $70,000 worth of marijuana in luggage in a suspect's car trunk.

Mountain Home police seized 13 pounds of marijuana, worth an estimated street value of $70,000 Saturday following a routine traffic stop.

Officers pulled over a car for speeding on Highway 30 near the Sinclair station at about 7 a.m. and the suspect in the vehicle granted a consent to search his car.

Officer Ryan Melanese and Sgt. Jeff Rhodes then allegedly found approximately 13 pounds of marijuana in some luggage in the trunk of the vehicle.
