The Mountain Home Lady Tigers dropped conference volleyball matches to Skyview and Middleton last week.

Skyview 3, Mountain Home 0

The unbeaten Lady Hawks were too much for Mountain Home last Tuesday night at Skyview, downing the Lady Tigers in three straight games.

Skyview won the first game 25-14, took the second game 25-9, and spiked its way to a 25-16 win in the third game to take the match three games to none.

"Skyview's a tough team and they don't make a lot of mistakes. We really focused on our coverage, which showed that we had worked on it and we did well with our coverage, but we just weren't attacking the ball, we weren't hitting," said Lady Tiger volleyball coach Rachele Asbury.

Dylan Dean was 5/6 serving, had six assists, two kills and 11 digs. Krissy Elliott was 3/4 serving, Jacci Cristobal had two kills and a block, and Hailey Belt had one block. Brittany Ryan was 5/7 serving, with 17 digs. Stephanie Jewell was 10/10 serving. Jessica Liercke was 2/2 serving with one block and one kill. Dakota Dean was 8/8 serving with one kill. Emilee Schetzle was 1/2 serving with a kill.

Mountain Home, which dropped to 3-8 in league play with the loss, hit on 87 percent (34/39) of the team's serves for the match.

Middleton 3, Mountain Home 0

Mountain Home honored two seniors during Senior Night ceremonies before the match with Middleton Thursday night in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium. Middleton swept the match, three games to none.

Middleton shot out to an early lead in the first game and went on to win 25-13.

In the second game, Mountain Home shot out to a lead and it looked like they were going to even the match at a game apiece as they went up 18-9, but Middleton battled back to tie the game at 22-22 and went on to win 25-23.

The third game went back and forth early, with ties at 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4, 6-6, 7-7 and 8-8. From there it was all Middleton, as the Lady Vikings scored 11 straight points and went on a 17-3 run to win the third game 25-11.

"We were trying some people in different spots, and when you're not playing next to somebody it's a little bit different, you have to talk more," said Coach Asbury. "The first game we came out slow, the way we played, playing next to different people, but then in the second game, we picked it up and then they backed down at the end of the second game, because they had 'em."

Dylan Dean was 9/10 serving, with an ace, three kills, five digs and eight assists. Stephanie Jewell was 12/14 serving with an ace and six digs. Brittany Ryan was 5/7 serving with two kills. Kelsey Egusquiza was 7/8 serving with an ace. Jessica Liercke was 4/5 serving with five kills and a block. Krissy Elliott was 3/4 serving, Hailey Belt had two kills and Jacci Cristobal had one kill.

Mountain Home, which fell to 3-9 with the loss, hit on 83 percent (40/48) of their serves, while Middleton hit 91 percent (67/74) of its own serves.

The Lady Tigers close out their regular season schedule this week. They were at Emmett Tuesday night, and travel to Columbia Thursday night.

Coach Asbury hopes to pick up a couple wins to gain momentum heading into next week's district tournament.

"We went five games with both Emmett and Columbia," she said. "We ended up beating Columbia. Emmett, we didn't win, but we played them in a tournament and beat them, so both teams are beatable. It just depends on how we show up to play."
