Lady Tigers start at district with win against Middleton

It was a good week for the Mountain Home Lady Tiger soccer team, capping off their regular seasons schedule with a tie and a win while opening district tourney play with a win.

Mountain Home 1, Kuna 1

Jessica Tindall scored late in the game to give Mountain Home a 1-1 tie with Kuna Monday at Eastside Park in Mountain Home.

Mountain Home girls soccer coach Mike Fisher was happy to get the tie.

"Yeah, it couldn't be more exciting than that. We're always hoping here, but it actually happened, so it's pretty exciting."

Mountain Home 3, Nampa 2

The Lady Tigers scored twice in the second half to down Nampa, 3-2, Wednesday at Nampa.

Rachel Warila scored two goals and Claudia Bermensolo one. Jessica Tindall and Mady Vines both had assists.

Becky Vogl had five saves on goal for the Lady Tigers while Amanda Klitzke added three.

The Lady Tigers finished the regular season 7-6-3 overall and 5-6-3 in league play, which gave them the number five seed heading into the District III 4A Girls Soccer Tournament, opening against Middleton.

Mountain Home 5, Middleton 4

The Lady Tigers battled Middleton tough Saturday morning at Bishop Kelly in the opening round of the District III 4A soccer tourney, earning a 5-4 victory to advance to the semi-finals.

Rachel Warila scored two goals for Mountain Home. Kelly Robins, Jasmine Deroy and Courtney Christiansen also had goals and Claudia Bermensolo had an assist.

Becky Vogl recorded 10 saves on goal.

The win put the Lady Tigers against top-seeded and unbeaten Bishop Kelly on Tuesday in the semi-finals.

Bishop Kelly had opened the tournament with a 9-0 win over eighth seeded Emmett.

Elimination games will be played today (Wednesday, Oct. 13), with the third-place and championship games Thursday.
