I-84 travel advisory issued

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

To help the pavement last longer, trucks and heavy vehicles are asked to use the left lane on a stretch of eastbound I-84 between Boise and Mountain Home.

Last week, three sets of signs went up in the 12-mile stretch between milepost 70 and 82 saying "trucks use left lane" to address the pavement condition.

The right-hand lane in that stretch is rutted and potholed.

By removing the heavier traffic from using the right lane, ITD hopes to extend the life of the pavement until funding allows for a more permanent repair in the near future.

Great idea, both sides will then have ruts and nothing will be replaced....

  • I-84

If you don't like the wear on I-84 now, do take note that Rep. Simpson wants to place larger trucks on our freeway system. You might let him know what you think of that.

  • So yea lets ruined the left lane normally called the passing lane in most normal states. Then lets place pea gravel to repair road which only makes road more hazardous with loose rocks to crack windshields. The worst state so far as keeping a major interstate drivable. Total embarrassment!!!
