Walter Samuel "Sam" Beach, 57, of Mountain Home, passed away on Friday, Oct. 1, 2010.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 13, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

Sam was born on Sept. 18, 1953, in San Bernardino, Calif., the only child of Olin and Eva Beach.

Sam and his family traveled around a lot when he was a child - so much that he was home schooled by his mother and never had any formal education. His mother taught him by doing, which made him a true self-made man.

Being a gunsmith and firearms expert was his passion, especially with military style weapons. Sam also had an interest in the Texas Rangers.

Sam is survived by his aunts, Ruby Moore and Rosemary Beach, his cousins, Duane Beach and Roxanne Rogers from Texas, Tom Beach of California, Paulette Nagle of California, Charlene Earnest of Oregon and Rinda Durbin of Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
