Soccer Tigers struggle

The Mountain Home Tigers boys soccer team came away with a tie and two losses in last week's action.

Emmett 5, Mountain Home 4

Emmett scored in the final two minutes off a penalty kick to hand the Mountain Home Tigers a 5-4 loss in conference boys soccer last Tuesday at Eastside Park in Mountain Home.

The loss was a tough one for the Tigers, who had battled back to tie the game at 4-4 and had missed a goal attempt minutes earlier that would have given them the lead.

"We didn't have a real good first half," said Tiger boys soccer coach Paul Walsh. "We just kind of let things get away from us, but the guys came back, and we had a real good second half.

"Sometimes calls go for you, sometimes they go against you, but the call is the call, and unfortunately that (penalty kick goal) went off our own guy. An own goal to end it like that is unfortunate, but we were there, and the guys played well."

Jalen Gibbons scored three goals for Mountain Home and Dominic Torres had one for the Tigers, who fell to 1-7-1 in conference play.

Mountain Home 1, Skyview 1

The Tigers battled Skyview tough Thursday in Nampa, the game ending in a 1-1 tie.

Skyview scored its goal in the first half and Mountain Home's goal came in the second half, when Jalen Gibbons scored off an assist by Ben Cumber.

Tomas Guillen had 11 saves in the game.

"It was a great game with a great effort by our guys," said Coach Walsh. "We played with great intensity, and the kids really worked hard."

Jerome 3, Mountain Home 0

The Tigers hosted Jerome in a non-conference game Saturday at Eastside Park and battled them tough, losing 3-0.

Tomas Guillen had eight saves on goal for the Tigers, who dropped to 1-8-2 overall on the season.

Mountain Home was at Columbia Tuesday, hosts Middleton Thursday and travels to Jerome on Saturday.
