How much can change from one day to the next?

From the perspective of Curly Surles, one day can change an entire nation. One day can shatter dreams or restore hope. It can bring people together for a common goal or divide them into their own selfish interests.

The day in question: Sept. 11, 2001.

Nearly a decade later, it seems many Americans returned to the lifestyle they enjoyed before a series of terrorist attacks on U.S. soil claimed the lives of nearly 3,000 people. Surles remembers how the nation stood united after those attacks and wonders whatever happened to that unity.

The old-time singer and songwriter from Mountain Home decided he needed to do something about his thoughts and feelings. He helped turn them into a song.
