Allied Waste urges changes in recycling effort

Wednesday, September 22, 2010

The company responsible for managing the city's trash and recycling collection programs hopes to streamline its services here under an existing program it wants to adopt locally.

During a briefing at the city's council's Sept. 13 public meeting, Allied Waste wants to include Mountain Home in its growing list of communities across the Treasure Valley using the new process.

Modifications to Allied Waste's vehicle fleet in other cities automates its trash and recycling collection process, using a side-load machine to pick up and empty its multi-gallon trash and recycling containers.

  • Now if we can just get the City or AW to accept household hazardous waste maybe people will have somewhere to properly dispose of it more than once a year. When someone moves, cleans out the garage/shed, etc, anytime other then October where do you suppose it's all going?

  • Bigger recycle bins is a good idea but not the part about having to dispose of your yard waste into your regular can. I for one wont be able to put trash in my garbage can if I have to put my yard waste in it too. Keep the yard waste the way it is and do the new recycle bins.
