Transformer blowout darkens city

A problem with a transformer caused the Mountain Home substation of Idaho Power to trigger a power outage just before 7 p.m. Friday that affected approximately 4,500 customers in northern Mountain Home and the surrounding areas.

According to Idaho Power, service was not restored until 11 p.m. and nearly 3,600 customers were without power until midnight.

Some customers, however, reported having power restored by 8 p.m.
