Lady runners finish second, boys sixth at Wood River Meet

The Lady Tigers cross country squad improved their season record with a second-place finish at the Bob Shay Invitational in Hailey on Thursday.

The Mountain Home boys trailed the leaders during last week's meet to finish sixth overall.

Twin Falls won the girls' competition with 35 points while Mountain Home remained a close second with a final score of 43. Jerome came in third with 69 while Wood River, Kimberly and Burley rounded out the rest of the top competitors.

Kacee Cameron led the Mountain Home runners with a time of 22 minutes, 25.78 seconds as the fifth best among the other large schools running the course. Arisha Karren was sixth during the event, setting a new personal best in a time of 22:26.68.

Meanwhile, Jordan Vivier was seventh at 22:27.49, Haley Schaefer came in 10th at 23:3.63, McKenzie Dorr finished 15th at 24:23.05 while Ashley Mayberry crossed the line in 16th place at 24:34.39.

Wood River ran away with the boys competition with a final 25-point tally. Twin Falls trailed with 65 points to take second while Jerome took third with 82. Burley and Kimberly finished ahead of the Mountain Home boys, who claimed 129 points. Minico and Canyon Ridge rounded out the rest of the competing schools.

Dylan Johnson led the Mountain Home boys with a final time of 19 minutes, 26.56 seconds, finishing 14th overall. Mike Price was 26th at 20:31.00, Jake Schaefer finished 27th at 20:37.00 while Daniel Courtright's 30th place time of 21:07.00 became his new personal record. Meanwhile, Jon Dodge finished 32nd at 21:16.00 while Aaron Menhart crossed the finish line at 21:52.00 at 38th while Taylor Croft was 44th at 22:22.76.

The Tigers cross country squads leave Mountain Home today, Sept. 15, to run at the Centipede race in Boise.
