Gunfighter 1 says thanks

Wednesday, September 15, 2010

Dear editor:

On behalf of the men and women of the 366th Fighter Wing, I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to Mayor Tom Rist, the City of Mountain Home and the surrounding communities for displaying their unending patriotism and support for Mountain Home Air Force Base during the Air Force Appreciation Day festivities.

Once again, Mountain Home has outdone itself in showing its support for the Air Force and the Gunfighter Wing. The 50th Annual Air Force Appreciation Day showed just how much the city welcomes the military presence in this area and highlighted a true friendship between the base and the local community. The town of Mountain Home continues to prove, year after year, that we are all one big family.

I would especially like to extend my gratitude to Mr. Randy Valley and the AFAD Committee for their time and effort in planning this great event. It was outstanding and a wonderful testament to the depth of support our local community maintains for its military members.

This year's theme, "50 Years of Patriotism," was especially appropriate as we also remembered the attacks of 9-11. Mountain Home Air Force Base appreciates the infinite support and constant devotion from this community.

Our duties as military members become easier when we have such tremendous loyalty from the local community, and the city of Mountain Home shines with patriotism. Thank you.

-- Col. Ron Buckley, Gunfighter 1
