The Mountain Home American Legion post honored two members of the local community for their contributions to the veterans organization here.

Both awards were presented earlier this year during the American Legion Department of Idaho convention in Post Falls, but the recipients had been unable to attend the state convention.

During a special meeting Sept. 7, American Legion Post 26 members presented Wade Baumgardner its Legionnaire of the Year honor for his contributions over the past 12 months.

In a separate presentation that evening, the local post handed Mountain Home News publisher Coleen Swenson the Legion's Fourth Estate award, which goes to the top news organization in the state.
