AFAD's golden anniversary set for Saturday

Wednesday, September 8, 2010
The Mountain Home High School Marching Band will help lead off Saturday's 50th anniversary Air Force Appreciation Day parade, which begins at 10:30 a.m.

Air Force Appreciation Day, this Saturday, Sept. 11, will mark the 50th anniversary of the annual celebration of military personnel at Mountain Home Air Force Base.

The theme this year is "50 Years of Patriotism" and the Chamber of Commerce, which sponsors the event, is urging the community to turn out in force to show its patriotic spirit and its support of the men and women assigned to the base, and in the nation's other military branches.

"The city of Mountain Home realizes the importance the base plays in the community," said AFAD Chairman Randy Valley. "The base is always involved in the local community and... the town loves this relationship with the base."
