Labor Day gas brief

Friday, September 3, 2010

Idahoans will pay a premium price for gas this Labor Day holiday. Though AAA expects about a ten percent increase in the number of holiday travelers this year compared to last, motorists are no doubt aware of the disparities between prices in this region and elsewhere in the country. Check out the spread of prices statewide, including the lowest to the highest. Idaho's average price is just shy of $3.00, compared to a national average price that's 31 cents lower.

AAA's travel projections, though not robust, show a 10 percent increase in overall travel this holiday compared to a year ago. That percentage of increase is expected in Idaho and neighboring states, as well.

And owner for Stinker said prices should be higher due to competition...only one pipeline is used to pipe gas here and is owned by Chevron....go figure. Also prices for Stinker stations in Utah are cheaper than here in Idaho, where Stinker is based. Got love the political atmosphere in everyday life.

  • We are getting off pretty good, compared to Northern Idaho. Gas was $3.16 in Orofino when I was there a few days ago.
