Reader offers water-saving tips

Sunday, September 5, 2010

Dear editor:

I read in the paper about the proposed water rate hike. If people would conserve water, maybe it would not be necessary.

I would like to share what I do. I save gallon containers, like milk jugs. I keep them in the kitchen and bathroom.

When I go to wash dishes or take a shower I fill the jug with the cold water that comes out before the hot water comes. One jug does for my four faucets. You can use this water for cooking or drinking or putting in the washing machine. Use like any water. Water plants or whatever. Just do not let it run down the drain. That is wasteful.
