Denise King

Denise M. (Whitlock) King, 51, of King Hill, fought a two-year long battle with lung cancer. After going into remission she started a long battle with pancreatic cancer. On Aug. 21, 2010, she went to meet with her family and friends that passed before her.

A viewing will be held on Friday, Aug. 27, from 4-7 p.m. at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28, at the multipurpose gym at the Glenns Ferry Middle School. Burial will follow at Glenn Rest Cemetery in Glenns Ferry.

Denise was born on Sept. 10, 1958, to Bob and Lynda (Clifford) Whitlock in Jerome. She was later joined by one brother, Bobby (Butch), and one sister, Stephanie. The family moved around a lot until they settled in Glenns Ferry in 1974.

That is where Denise met the love of her life, Douglas C. King. They were married on April 28, 1979, in Glenns Ferry. They were blessed with four children, Jamie Leigh, Richard, Amanda Dawn and Jennifer Lynn. She has one very well loved granddaughter that is the light of her life, Taylor Morgan Springer.

Denise is survived by her husband, Douglas King, of King Hill, her children, Jamie and her husband, Matt Springer of Mountain Home, Richard C. King II of Glenns Ferry, Amanda and her husband, Nick Harlan, of Mountain Home, Jennifer King of Glenns Ferry, her mother, Lynda Clifford of Wendell, her step-mother, Patricia Whitlock of Nevada, her brother, Butch Whitlock of Nevada, her sister, Stephanie Nab of Wendell, sister Maureen Miley of Boise, her granddaughter Taylor and numerous extended family and very special friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bob, and best friend Edna Kay Alderman.

That family requests memorials be made in Denisešs honor to the Mountain States Tumor Institute, Health Foundation, 190 E. Bannock, Boise, ID 83712.

The family would like to thank Dr. Dan Zuckerman, his nurse Noel, Pat, Denise, Michelle, Jackie, Allie, Valerie, Dr. Stephen Smith and all the other nurses at MSTI! You are the BEST!
