The Oasis Volunteer Fire Protection District added an ambulance to its emergency response fleet following a recent donation from the Grand View Idaho Ambulance Service.

Built in 1991 and still in excellent condition, the ambulance gives the Oasis fire department the additional tools it needs to form a medical response team, according to department officials.

The department expects the additional vehicle to help them greatly expedite their efforts to bring its medical unit to operational status to better serving the rural Oasis community, officials added. Having an emergency medical service unit in Oasis is necessary because of the long response times from either Mountain Home or Boise for timely emergency care.
