Local schools to gain new principals

Thursday, July 8, 2010

Three schools in the Mountain Home School District will start the upcoming year with new principals with additional leadership changes planned at other schools here.

The moves follow the retirement of two principals at the end of the 2009 to 2010 school year along with the resignation of another principal two months ago.

As part of these scheduled moves, former Mountain Home Junior High School assistant principal Sherri Ybarra moves to take charge of West Elementary School while Hacker Middle School assistant principal Anita Straw goes to East Elementary School. Meanwhile, Mountain Home High School assistant principal Albert Longhurst will become the junior high school's new principal.

  • Nothing Bazooka. Nothing. Spend, spend, spend. Because the people of MH will always pay their way when there are threats of this and that that would have never come to be. There is an endless supply of money here did you not know? Mountain Home, Idaho has no economic pinch. Just ask the businesses closing in downtown. All is well. Business as usual.

Looks like a few folks have new positions now...good for them.

May not be the change everyone is looking for, but something actually did change.

  • This guy won, by a landslide, 49 out of 50 states, after making this statement:

  • We need NEW leaders not bouncing around the few left! Tho Anita Straw was a good Vice Principal at Hacker (better than the Principal there), she actually cares about the kids and I think will be be a nice addition at East Elem.

  • Well, I think Mrs. Cruser is a better principal than Mrs. Straw

  • Well Zook,

It depends on your perception: Are there old habits out there you take issue with? Are bad habits being practiced by those in authoritarian positions in the local schools?

And are you really comparing the local education institution to the leadership of this country?

  • but wouldn't that be just like if Obama transferred over to Secretary of State, Hillary moved to Speaker of the House and Pelosi took over the Oval Office?

Umm, I do not think that is CONSTITUTIONAL.

  • Again Zook,

Are there old habits out there you take issue with? Are bad habits being practiced by those in authoritarian positions in the local schools? Does someone in a leadership position at a local school (Not on the board, but actually IN the school) deserve to be "canned"? If so, please explain why you think that. Otherwise, I don't see the point of your previous comment.

By the way, I've already worked for someone(s) deserving of the highway that just got shifted to another position. That's pretty much a staple of employment nowadays: Stick around long enough, and it happens. But comparing the local schools' leadership positions to the national picture just doesn't make sense. If it did, you could make your argument with any type of employment.

  • Having spent the past for years with Mr. Longhurst around, I am going to be a little sad my senior year in light of his absence. However, congratulations (or apologies, if they are not happy) to everyone who was moved to new positions!
