City gears up for Fourth of July activities

City officials and local business leaders continued putting the final touches on preparations for Sunday's Independence Day activities across Mountain Home.

Honoring the nation's 234th anniversary this year, festivities begin at 10 a.m. in Carl Miller Park during the El-Wyhee Business Association's fourth annual "Flash and Shine Show."

A vintage car show kicks off the festival in the park while local artists display their various works, said event coordinator Michael Stoecker. A four-wheel drive display and demonstration follows at 10:30 a.m.
