Local student places at national debate tournament

Chelsea Wegrzyniak became the first Mountain Home High School Student to advance to elimination rounds at the National Forensics League's National Debate Tournament June 14-18 in Kansas City, Mo.

Wegrzyniak, who would be a senior next year but plans to graduate over the summer, won 10 of 12 ballots in the preliminary rounds of Lincoln-Douglas Debate. She won four of her rounds and had two split decisions and no losses while facing competition from more than 275 students from throughout the United States. Only 70 of those 275 students advanced to the elimination rounds.
