Base won't get Predator, Reaper center

Wednesday, June 23, 2010

The Air Force announced Monday that Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo., and Ellsworth AFB, S.D., will host ground control stations for MQ-1 Predator and MQ-9 Reaper remotely piloted aircraft, respectively.

Mountain Home AFB had been among the bases being considered for the control facilities.

Each base selected will add a total of 280 personnel, both civilian and military, for the new mission.

    Bazzoka,

Can't have it both ways. You say you want to see businesses come to town but then you approve of when things like this happen. I won't say if you do not like how Mt Home has grown, then move to Atlanta or Featherville. I love this town too much to see anyone leave. I would have liked to seen the additional personnel to the base as they would more than likely have families and might decide to live off-base which would give us a larger tax base and thus maybe less burden on the rest of us. I still got my fingers that we are selected for the F-35 over the other bases.
