Lady Tigers softball team honored at awards event

Several Mountain Home Lady Tigers received awards at Thursday night's softball awards banquet, including Nickayla Skinner being named as conference player of the year.

Coach Asbury also was voted by his peers as Coach of the Year in the SIC 4A for the second straight year.

For team awards, Nickayla Skinner earned the Most Valuable Player award.

The Most Improved Defensive Player award went to Megan Kelly. Rachel Warila earned the Most Improved Offensive Player award. The Golden Glove award also went to Megan Kelly.

Krissy Elliott received the Most Inspirational Player award. The Work Horse award, voted upon by the team, went to Arlene Futch, and Jennica Quintal earned the Work Horse award voted on by coaches.

Lady Tiger softball coach Chris Asbury also announced the All-Conference selections voted on by the coaches in the conference. No coach can vote for his own players.

First Team All-Conference infield went to Arlene Futch and Charde Huntington, and First Team All-Conference outfield went to Jennica Quintal. Second Team All-Conference catcher went to Megan Kelly, and Lindsay Sessions earned Second Team All-Conference outfield.

For the second year in a row, the Mountain Home Lady Tigers won the State 4A Softball Champion. After falling to Kuna in the semi-finals, Mountain Home won three games -- beating Kuna twice -- to win the title.
