Opera Theatre season opens

Thursday, June 10, 2010
The cast at the historic Opera Theatre are ready for the 2010 season, which opens Friday.

This year's summer season at the Historic Opera Theatre in Glenns Ferry begins on Friday, June 11, with the comedy/mystery "Cafe Murder."

Saturday evening melodramas begin on June 12. This year's play is "Run to The Roundhouse Nellie; He Can't Corner You There!" The audience is encouraged to boo the villain, applaud the hero, and sigh and audible "aah" whenever the heroine is on stage. Audiences on both nights also are prompted to sing 'I've Been Workin' on The Railroad" whenever a train passes through town, which can happen several times during any given performance. The Saturday production also includes vocal performances by the theatre's Little Engineers.

  • I would encourage anyone who can to go see this production. Old fashioned family values in the historic Opera Theatre. It is a treat.
