Richard McCallum

Richard C. McCallum, Jr., 48, of Mountain Home, passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at his home.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

Richard was born on Feb. 13, 1962, in Wichita, Kan., the son of Richard and Judith McCallum. Richard was born to a military family and the older of his two brothers Roy "Lynn" and David Wayne. Richard experienced a lot of travel in his youth, which may have led to his work as a long-haul trucker.

His job was a joy to him except for the extended periods away from friends and family. Richard thought constantly of his son and daughters, family and friends and loved them dearly.

Richard served four years in the US Navy and upon discharge he returned to high school, graduated and went on to earn an associates degree in Computer Aided Drafting.

Richard was a very avid supporter of the Nascar circuit with his favorite driver being Earnhart, Jr. Although he seldom saw a live race he either watched them on TV or taped them.

Richard will be dearly missed by those he leaves behind, his parents, Mac and Judy of California, his brothers, Lynn and his wife, Susan McCallum, and David McCallum, all of Mountain Home, his son, Brandon ,of Nevada, his daughters, Brooke, Mechelle, and Nichole, of Idaho, and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and not to be left out, all his friends, close and distant. He will always be in our hearts and minds.
