Board accepts junior high principal's resignation

Wednesday, April 14, 2010
Mountain Home Junior High School has a new principal.

Bill McCarrel, the principal at Mountain Home Junior High School, tendered his resignation to the Mountain Home School board following a closed-door hearing Wednesday night before the board.

The board accepted his resignation and immediately named the school's vice principal, Sherri Ybarra, to succeed him for the remainder of the year.

McCarrel had been on paid administrative leave for two months following allegations that he had violated the district's personal conduct policy. After a lenghty investigation by the school district it was determined his actions were not criminal, but clearly violated district policy. His transgressions have not been described in detail at the advice of the district's lawyers. No students were involved in any of the incidents that led to his suspension by the district two months ago.

  • It is sad that any one loses there job right now but if you abuse the system then it is time to go. Money should be paid back while they sorted this out.

  • He should have to pay the money back and a full story should be made public as to the problems surrounding this story. If not then the school board is wasting our money and hiding secrets from the public and needs to be voted out of office immediately. Corruption, Corruption, Corruption is the label the entire school board will be champion if they try and sweep this under the rug.

Well it would be criminal on the school boards part not to require him to pay the tax payers back the money he made while on leave. If hes just resigning to keep the money or not to be implicated into something then its not fair to the citizens to pay for a nice two week "vacation" for him. I could never do this and I doubt many of us out there could. And this must be truly hanis issue if the distric lawyers are trying to make us look at a shiny red ball.

  • Are you kidding me? Bill McCarrel has been an effective school representative for a long time. Apparently, some of you have not had kid's in the school system very long.

  • From the newspaper article it sounds like sexual harassment of female employees. That is not a good leader if you treat staff like that.

  • Yeah...the same guy who did not see fit to kick a hispanic kid out of school for punching a school employee because he was afraid the parents would file a suit against the district. Yep, great leader. We need more just like him. Oh wait, we have more just like him which is part of our current problem.

Good luck Bill. Do not let the door hit ya on your way out of town. Karma is a real pain.
