Principal's hearing delayed

Wednesday, April 7, 2010

A "due process" hearing on alleged violations of district policy by Bill McCarrel, the principal at Mountain Home Junior High School, has been delayed until April 14 at the request of McCarrel and his attorney.

The meeting will be held by the Mountain Home School Board beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the district office.

McCarrel is on paid administrative leave following an investigation by the school district into possible violations of district policy. District officials have remained tight-lipped about the allegations, saying only that what McCarrel allegedly did was not criminal and did not involve any students.

Wow I would request to delay my hearing as long as I could if I was receiving a salary for doing nothing. I say since this delay was the request of Mr. McCarrel and his laywer, then he should not receive a salary or at least have to pay it back if the hearing does not go well for him. And before someone points out that he has a family and all that, he is not unique in the area and should have thought about that if he did indeed violate district policy. You break the rules, you pay the price.

I agree, so now we have to pay for this person to just sit and gain pay for no work, while we are in a budget crunch, yeah, that makes sense. So, if its founded that he violated policy, will he have to pay back the paid absense?? I would hope so, we need to recoupe some of the money the WECRD is spending somehow.....

  • My kid came home and said that the vice principal has made the principal and Mr.McCarrel had been fired. If the SD was a little more forthcoming maybe parents wouldnt be so upset with them.
