Fire destroys chicken coop

Fire crews work to extinguish the blaze the destroyed a chicken coop on Sunset Strip.

A heat lamp triggered a fire that destroyed a chicken coop on Sunset Strip west of Mountain Home around 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

It took fire fighters approximately three minutes to extinguish the blaze, which had already engulfed the shed by the time they arrived on scene.

According to fire department officials, the shed behind the home of Robert and Bobbie Lockett housed 27 chickens, all of whom perished.

Smoke from the fire was visible for at least a mile along Highway 30 before being extinguished.

We are fortunate to have so many wonderful people who do a job that can be so thankless at times. They took the time to consol me and make sure I was ok while mopping up.
