The Mountain Home Lady Tigers bounced back from a loss at Bishop Kelly with a win over Emmett at home last week in conference girls basketball.

Bishop Kelly 50, Mountain Home 43

Bishop Kelly sophomore Randi McReynolds scored 14 of her game-high 18 points in the fourth quarter Thursday night as the Lady Knights held off Mountain Home 50-43 in conference girls basketball at Bishop Kelly.

With second place in the conference standings on the line at Bishop Kelly Thursday night, the two teams battled tough. Mountain Home led only once in the game, at 7-6 with about two minutes left in the first quarter. The Lady Tigers trailed 10-7 after a quarter.

Mountain Home fell behind by five midway through the second quarter, but battled back to tie the game at 19-19 at the half. The Lady Tigers fell behind by five in the third, but again battled back to tie it at 31-31 heading into the fourth quarter.

Bishop Kelly's 5-foot, 10-inch sophomore Randi McReynolds came up huge for the Lady Knights in the fourth, scoring 14 of her game-high 18 points to go up by seven. Mountain Home was then forced to foul and the Lady Knights held off Mountain Home for the 50-43 win.

"Obviously, that (Christmas) lay-off was a killer," said Mountain Home Lady Tiger coach Brent Keener after the game. "Not playing for two and a half weeks really hurt us! It wasn't just that, either, I thought they just wanted it more. I really thought they hustled to the ball a lot more, and the second-chance opportunities they had with the ball was ridiculous. If we limit them to one shot, we win that game. They killed us on the board."

Dakota Barrie and Charde Huntington led the Lady Tigers in scoring with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Blas Lord added nine points, Shelby Posey scored four before fouling out, and Angie Rios, playing in her first contest in over a year, added three points.

Bishop Kelly outrebounded the Lady Tigers, 40-30. Dakota Barrie led Mountain Home with nine rebounds. Mountain Home dropped both preliminary games, losing the sophomore contest 27-25 and the JV game 43-28.

Lady Tigers 61, Emmett 32

Mountain Home bounced back Saturday night and played much better in downing the Emmett Lady Huskies 61-32 in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium in Mountain Home.

Mountain Home shot out to a 13-2 first quarter lead, and took a 26-12 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Emmett's press caused some problems for a while in the third quarter and they fought back to within five, 30-25, half-way through the quarter, but the Lady Tigers regrouped and went on a 14-3 run the rest of the quarter to push their lead to 44-28 heading into the final eight minutes.

Mountain Home kept the pressure on in the fourth and breezed on to a 61-32 win.

"Emmett cut it to five there in the third, and they got after it," said Coach Keener. "They were aggressive and they played hard. The officials let everyone play, so it took us a while to find the courage, or I don't know what was going on, but we got back into it and we responded. As ugly as the game was at times, we did a good job of responding when they made their runs."

Shelby Posey led a balanced scoring attack with 14 points. Charde Huntington netted 13, Rachel Warila added 10, Blas Lord had nine, Dakota Barrie six, Angie Rios four, Jessica Liercke three and Amanda Osborn two.

The win improved the Lady Tigers to 10-3 overall, and 6-2 in conference play. Mountain Home was at Middleton last night for a big conference showdown, and the Lady Tigers host Nampa Friday night in conference play in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium.

Mountain Home came away with a sweep of Emmett Saturday night as the Lady Tiger sophomores won 43-26 and the JV Lady Tigers won 38-18.
