Tiger teams spring back to action after holiday break

With 2010 upon us, Mountain Home Tiger sports teams get back in action this week.

Tiger boys basketball

First to start back up was the Mountain Home Tigers boys basketball team. The Tigers ended 2009 on a two-game win streak after dropping their first four games.

Tiger boys basketball coach Tony Kerfoot likes what he's seeing from his players.

"I've been coaching for quite a while, and I think this team has improved more in the first part of the season more than any team. They just keep on getting a little bit better and a little bit better. They're very coachable, so I've been real pleased with the way they're coming around."

The Tigers returned to action last night, hosting Middleton in conference play in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium. The Tigers are on the road Friday night, traveling over to Nampa to face the Bulldogs in conference play.

Lady Tiger basketball

The Mountain Home Lady Tigers return to action Thursday night at Bishop Kelly. The Lady Tigers are 9-2 on the season, and 5-1 in conference play.

Mountain Home Lady Tiger basketball coach Brent Keener sees Thursday's battle at Bishop Kelly as, "a huge game. We'll have plenty of time to prepare for that, which is nice, and I think, with the way we're playing, I definitely like our chances."

The Lady Tigers are home Saturday night to start the second time through conference play, hosting Emmett.

Tiger wrestling

The Tiger wrestling squad returns to action Thursday night, hosting Skyview and Twin Falls in a double-dual on the mats in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium. The Tigers will be at the Buhl Invitational wrestling tourney on Friday and Saturday.

Tiger wrestling coach Lynn Knudson looks to see steady improvement by his young wrestling squad.

"I feel really good about these guys and spending the time with these guys. They're coming around and getting a little more sound each and every time we wrestle. I'm seeing a lot of improvement, so it looks good for the future."
