Library sets Capitol rededication activities

Monday, January 11, 2010

The librarians at Mountain Home Public Library are gearing up for "Ida Visits the Capitol" Day, Friday Jan. 8, from 3-6 p.m.

Who is Ida? "She's a barnstorming pilot from the past who flies back in time to take readers on a historical journey that forges Idaho history," the local librarians said. The library has received 10 copies of "Ida Visits the Capitol" from the Idaho State Capitol Rededication Celebration Committee and will host a drawing for copies of the book. Check at the circulation desk for drawing entry forms.

For the Friday event participants are being asked to come to the library on a drop-in basis. Librarians will act as guides to assist anyone interested in watching a short movie showing the extensive work involved in the renovation at the capitol. In addition to the movie there are captioned photos of the renovation and an "I Spy" Idaho capitol game for children on the Idaho Public Television website. Librarians will not only assist those who would like to view the photos but make sure participants leave the library with the necessary web-site access information.

When the actual rededication ceremony takes place in Boise on Jan. 9 at noon, families will be able to participate from home by watching it on the Idaho Public Television website.
