VA opens new regional office

The Boise Regional Office serves as the VA processing center for more than 136,000 Idaho veterans.

The Department of Veterans Affairs -- Boise VA Regional Office dedicated its new 25,000-square-foot office building Dec. 17 on the grounds of the Boise VA Medical Center campus.

Special appearances for the dedication were made by VA Under-Secretary for Benefits, Patrick W. Dunne, and U.S. Sen. Larry Craig. As former Chairman of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee, Sen. Craig was instrumental in securing funding for the new Boise Regional Office building.

The Boise Regional Office serves as the VA benefits processing center for more than 136,000 Idaho veterans filing claims for disability compensation, pension, vocational rehabilitation and survivor benefits.

The office will also be home to veteran service organizations such as the Disabled American Veterans and the Idaho Division of Veteran Services.

The Boise VA Regional Office is now open for business to veterans and their families at the new location, 444 W. Fort St., from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
