Holiday Faire in Glenns Ferry is major event for community

Tuesday, November 24, 2009
In honor of the new street lights recently installed in Glenns Ferry, "Light up the Town" has been chosen as the theme for this year's Holiday Faire.

The bazaar will be held at the Veteran's Memorial Hall in Glenns Ferry on Saturday, Nov. 28.

Those who bring a non-perishable food items will get a discount on the $1.50 entrance fee. All proceeds raised by the annual event will be donated to local funds that help those in need. Doors open at 9 a.m.

The hall will be filled with hand-crafted gifts, toys, home décor, jewelry, needlework and Christmas items. All table spaces have been filled.

Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. by the Three Island Crossing Senior Center.

Each of the 26 participating vendors will be contributing an item for door prizes to be awarded throughout the day.

A painting donated by Pam Swenson will be raffled off with the winner being announced at 2 p.m. (the winner need not be present).

Santa will be visiting at 11:30 a.m. Parents are urged to bring their cameras for photo opportunities.

The event is the kick-off for the holiday season in the Glenns Ferry community.

In the evening there will be a parade starting at 5 p.m. from the Senior Center and ending downtown at First Street and Commercial Avenue. Following the parade will be the lighting of the Community Christmas Tree.

This will be the first year for this tree (located in the Railroad Park area across from the bank) to receive the honor since the one used for many years was felled by a summer windstorm.
