Sears launch food drive

Tuesday, November 24, 2009

The local Sears stores will sponsor a food drive to benefit local food banks throughout November and December.

This is the fourth consecutive year in which the Sears Hometown Store organization, with nearly 950 stores, will spearhead a national initiative to support the hungry in their communities.

The Mountain Home Sears store will receive donations of canned and boxed non-perishable food items through Dec. 31.

Customers are encouraged to drop non-perishable canned and boxed food items as well as other needed products, such as diapers, paper towels, handy wipes, latex gloves, etc., in the donation boxes located at their store at 1535 American Legion Blvd., during business hours. The donations will be distributed to local food banks.

"We welcome the opportunity to host this event again," said Marty Kozar, a spokesman for Sears Hometown Stores.

"We feel privileged to join in a local effort to lend a hand to those experiencing hardship in our communities, and want to encourage our customers to open their hearts and their cupboards to this initiative."
