This birdhouse will be raffled to raise funds for the project.

Commerce Giving Tree Project has requests for about 500 children to help provide for this Christmas.

There are also seniors and people with disabilities that have signed up for assistance.

This year, the focus of the Chamber project is on clothing.

Giving Tree tags will be on Christmas trees at various businesses as of Thanksgiving weekend.

The Chamber will have a list available of where the community can find tags, including the Chamber office.

"Pick up a tag per child or as many children's' tags as you feel you can help provide for and deliver your presents to any designated area noted on the tag or drop off your presents at the Chamber office at 205 East 2nd North St.," a Chamber spokesperson said.

Any family, business or club wishing to adopt a whole family or families to help out this year can contact the Chamber by Friday at 587-4334 or email mhcgivingtree@yahoo.com and indicate the size of family, number of senior citizens or people with disabilities you can help.

"The Giving Tree will be needing medium (clothing size) boxes for wrapping gifts so if you have any that might apply that you would normally throw away please consider dropping them off at the Chamber," said Lori Posey, Chamber executive director.

"We will also be wrapping a lot of presents so any donations of wrapping paper would be great."

Volunteers also are needed to help man the Giving Tree Workshop Dec. 1-15. Call Lauri Erickson at Miracle and Associates at 587-3301 or email mhcgivingtree@yahoo.com if you can help.

"Our goal is to have the workshop open at least 4 hours a day for people to drop off donations," Posey said.

To help raise funds for expenses related to the Giving Tree project, the chamber is raffling a birdhouse "made by a local person famed for their birdhouses." The birdhouse currently is on display at Idaho Independent Bank. Tickets are six for $5.

The winner will be chosen at a December Chamber meeting and need not be present to win.
