Choir program prepares for holiday entertainment

Choir students spend hours every week honing their skills for performances.

Ten weeks into the school year, choir groups from the Mountain Home junior and senior high schools continue to hone their talents as they prepare for their upcoming performances.

"It's my best year ever; a good, solid beginning," said Blake Olmstead, who celebrates his 24th year as a choir director and music coordinator with the Mountain Home School District. "Vocally, they are doing great. Everybody in there wants to be there. There's something with the kids that is really exciting."

Mountain Home High School Instrumental Jazz Festival -- Dec. 3 and 4, Boise State University

Hacker Middle School band and choir concert -- 1:30 and 7 p.m. Dec. 8 at the middle school

Mountain Home Junior High School and Mountain Home High School Christmas choir concert -- 7 p.m. Dec. 14 at the high school

Mountain Home Junior High School and Mountain Home High School Christmas band concert -- 7 p.m. Dec. 15 at the high school

Mountain Home High School District III vocal solo festival -- March 1, location to be determined
