Elections take place on Tuesday

Monday, November 2, 2009

Voters will go to the polls next Tuesday to cast ballots in a number of "off year" local elections.

At the city level, incumbent councilpersons Alain Isaac and Richard Urquidi remain uncontested as both seek to run for a third term on the Mountain Home City Council.

Polls for the 2009 city election open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Mountain Home Public Library.

Besides the city council elections, three other local governments are holding elections this fall.

The Mellen Sub Water District will hold an election for its board of directors on Nov. 3. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 579 NW Birch Ave.

The Mountain Home Rural Fire Protection District will hold an election on Nov. 3. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the rural fire station, 550 S. Main, in Mountain Home.

Because only one candidate, Kenneth Johnson, filed for the available Subdistrict 1 position on the Oasis Fire Protection District, that Nov. 3 election has been cancelled, as provided in state law.
