Huge crowds attend final crossing reenactment

The last wagon to cross at Three Island Crossing began its final approach to leave the water.

Thousands of people flocked to Glenns Ferry last Saturday to witness the 24th and final reenactment of the Oregon Trail crossing of the Snake River during the annual Three Island Crossing.

Traffic was backed up for miles as spectators tried to get to the event.

Dale Smith, chairman of the Three Island Crossing Committee (TICC), estimated that attendance was between 3,500-5,000, the largest turnout in ten years.
