Registration for school year begins Aug. 12

School registration for the Mountain Home School District will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 12,

Registration at Base Primary, East Elementary, North Elementary and West Elementary schools will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Mountain Home Junior High School (grades 7 and 8), and Hacker Middle School (grades 5 and 6) will register students on Aug. 12 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Registration for Mountain Home High School students who are returning to the district will be Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 12 and 13.

High school students will register according to the following schedule:

* Aug. 12 -- Seniors and freshman 8 a.m. to noon and 1-3 p.m.

* Aug. 13-- Juniors and sophomores 8 a.m. to noon and 1-3 p.m.

The first day of school will be Monday, Aug. 24.

Pre-registration and

new student orientation

Pre-registration for Hacker Middle School, Mountain Home High School and Mountain Home Junior High students who are new to the district will be held this Thursday, Aug. 6, from 8 a.m. to noon at Hacker Middle School, and from 8-10 a.m. for seventh-grade students and 10 a.m. to noon for eighth-grade students at Mountain Home Junior High School.

Pre-registration for Mountain Home High School students (grades 9-10) will be held starting at 1 p.m. this Thursday, Aug. 6.

Information will include bell schedules, school calendar, course descriptions and a general school outline, including policies on behavior, attendance and dress codes.

Other information will be included as requested.

An appointment will be scheduled at the conclusion of the session to complete the paperwork required for enrollment, transcript evaluation, course placement and verification of immunization records. Two forms of identification are required.

Attendance at a session will speed the registration process. New students and their parents are being encouraged to attend. Parents will need to bring school records, birth certificate and a shot record.

Immunizations

Idaho law requires that proof of immunization against certain childhood diseases be presented for children from kindergarten through twelfth grade. Children who are not in compliance must be excluded from attending classes, according to state law.

The Idaho Immunization Law requires that children be up to date on their immunizations (shots) for:

* 5 doses of DTAP

* 3 doses of Polio

* 2 doses MMR

* 3 doses of Hepatitis B

* or have a valid medical, religious or personal exemption form on file. An exemption is not valid if the parent has forgotten their child immunization record.

Parents must bring a birth certificate and proof of immunization for new students entering kindergarten through twelfth grade.

Kindergarten eligibility

Eligibility dates for students entering kindergarten for the school term beginning fall of 2009 is the first day of September. This means students must be five years of age on or before Sept. 1.

First grade eligibility

For a child enrolling in the first grade, the age of six years must be reached on or before the first day of September of the school year in which the child is to enroll. Any child of the age of five years who has completed a private or public out-of-state kindergarten for the required 450 hours but has not reached the "school age" requirement in Idaho may be allowed to enter first grade.

Special education eligibility

For resident children with disabilities who qualify for special education and related services "school age" shall begin at the attainment of age three and shall continue through the semester of the school in which the student attains the age of 21 years.

The following fee schedules have been adopted by the district:

Mountain Home High School fees

Activity Card -- $30. Non-optional for students in sports, choir, band, drama, debate, and student council.

Agenda -- $2. Non-optional ($5 for replacement).

Advanced Biology -- $10 per class, per year.

Art-- $15 per semester, per class.
Automotive-- $10 per semester, per class.

Book Deposit -- $10. Non-optional, refundable depending upon condition of textbooks at the end of the year.

Zoology -- $15 per class, per year lab fee.

Class Dues -- $2. Non-optional, non-refundable, per student for class account. Helps sponsor dances, assemblies and activities.

Construction-- $10 per semester, per class. Fee is in addition to the cost of the project
Driver's Ed-- $145 for after school/summer (optional); $160 for school day class (optional).

Adult Living -- $5 per semester, per class.

Fashion Design -- $5 per semester, per class.

Foods and Nutrition -- $20 per semester, per class.

General P.E. Classes -- $10 for first semester (will go to bowling alley during the first semester).

Honor Society -- $10 per year membership fee.

Welding -- $10 per semester.

Job Shadowing -- $15 per semester.

Parking Sticker -- $5 (optional).

Lifetime Sports -- $20 per semester.

Marching Band -- $30 (non-optional for students in band); $30 if student already has shoes.

Band Rental-- $25 per semester; $17 per semester.
Photography-- $10 per year, per class.

Mountain Home Junior High School fees

Material Fee-- $10 per year. Refundable deposit toward lost or damaged items.

Agenda -- $3. Agendas will be available at registration Aug. 12.

Activity Card -- $7.50.
Art-- $10 per class.

Video Production -- $10 per class.

P.E. Uniform-- $15 (not required).

Academic Comp. -- $10.

Hacker Middle School fees

5th Grade

User fee -- $15.

Exploratory Fee -- $10.

6th Grade

Use fee -- $15.

Exploratory fee -- $20.

Yearbook -- $50 (optional).
