The show will open at the winery on Friday, Aug. 7 from 2-8 p.m. and Saturday,
Artists will be exhibiting outside on the lawn and inside the winery on Aug. 8, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Carmela Winery is located next to Three Island State Park. Carmela will be offering meals and beverages according to its regular weekend schedule.
During both days of the event, there will be demonstrations by participating artists.
Featured demonstrations on Friday will be Mountain Home artist Tom Bennick, Idaho Commission on the Arts Teaching Artist, demonstrating the art of producing handmade paper. Boise teaching artist Fred Choate will be demonstrating plein air landscape painting on Saturday. Twin Falls artist Al Cantu will demonstrate painting both days.
A new feature, an "Artists' Challenge," has been added this year by the Visual Arts Committee. Artists have been challenged to interpret a sunset photograph by Idaho photographer Jerry Kencke. The works will be displayed during both days of the show and the winning interpretation will be determined by a "people's choice" vote, with the artist receiving a $100 prize.
Participating area artists will be sculptor Bob Gerdes and jewelry maker Emmy Gerdes; Lee Blackwell, horse hair hitching; Cynthia Henstock, watercolor; Sherrie Gregory, pottery; KC Duerig, carving; Steve Gabriel, wood relief; Gertrude Hudson, oils; Jonna Barnett, acrylics; Jim O'Day, painting; and Saunie Kohntopp, glass bead/lamp work.
