Summer reading program wrapping up

Friday, July 31, 2009

The Summer Reading Program at the Mountain Home Public Library is in its final week.

The library staff is inviting the public to visit the library and see the "entertaining way the number of books that Summer Reading Program participants have read is being displayed. There is a happy dragon whose scales bear the name of a proud reader. There are four gigantic ice cream cones with many different flavored scoops, again each one with a reader's name," a spokesperson for the library said.

As of Wednesday July 22, 1,080 books had been read as part of the summer reading program.

"Talking Book Services Awareness Day" will be observed at the Mountain Home Public Library on Monday, Aug. 17, and throughout the state as well. The event is being promoted by the Idaho Commission for Libraries. Posters and flyers for the event will be displayed after Aug. 1.
