Parkinson shows some of the many trophies he has won over the years

For the second year in a row 14-year-old Mike Parkinson of Mountain Home won the Idaho State Bowhunter 3D Archery Championship, held July 18 this year in Stanley.

Parkinson has been competing in archery competitions spanning accross Idaho and Oregon since the age of 10. He has 18 first-place wins, including a win in the adult mens open division, seven second-place and two third-place finishes to his credit.

He added to that total this last weekend when he won the Eastern Oregon Supershoot competition in Baker.

Parkinson also has won the third leg of the IBO Triple Crown (International Bowhunter Organization) in LaGrande, Ore., in May 2009, which qualifies him for the Aug.13-15 IBO Worlds in Ellicotville, N.Y., which he will be attending.

Parkinson is not only a gifted Archer, but also a dedicated student. This past school year he was president of the National Junior Honor Society at Mountain Home Junior High School, maintaining a 3.9 GPA.
