Authorities seek public's help concerning suspicious auto fire

Wednesday, July 15, 2009
Police and fire officials are concerned that the fire last week may have been sparked by an arsonist.

Police and fire authorities are investigating what they are calling a "suspicious" car fire last Thursday, July 9.

At approximately 11:59 p.m. members of the Mountain Home Police and Mountain Home Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire to 1140 E. 9th North St. involving a grey 1991 Chevrolet Camaro.

Fire Chief Phil Gridley of the Mountain Home Fire Department is calling the fire suspicious. He said that he could not find any natural or normal causes usually associated with a fire of that nature.

Mountain Home Police Detective, Ty Larsen, is looking for witnesses that may have been in or around the area at the time of the fire.

The owner of the vehicle is not considered a suspect in the apparent arson.

Anyone having information about the fire can contact Detective Larsen at 587-2101, ext. 205, or citizens can report it and remain anonymous by visiting the Mountain Home Police Silent Witness Link at http://www.mhpd.net/silentwitness.htm.
