Restored B-17 flies into Mountain Home airport for 3-days of rides and tours

Friday, July 10, 2009
A small crowd quickly gathered around the B-17 after it taxied to a stop.

A restored WWII B-17 bomber, "Sentimental Journey," flew into the Mountain Home Municipal Airport Friday, offering rides and tours of the historic aircraft.

The plane will be on display at the airport through July 12. This Saturday and Sunday, tours of the plane ($5) will be available from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Rides also are offered at a cost of $425, with all proceeds going to maintenance of the plane.

Flown by the Commemorative Air Force, a non-profit organization that restores historic aircraft to flying condition, the "Flying Fortress" bomber is one of less than a dozen in the world still flying.

Watch the Mountain Home News next week for more details about the historic aircraft's visit to Mountain Home.

The Long Term Care unit where my dad is at presently took 3 of their residents, my dad being one of them, to see her. He was very excited and thanks to Eric and Genie at Elmore County Hospital for doing that. How cool is that??
