Pedestrian hit by car on interstate

Monday, July 6, 2009

A Magna, Utah, woman suffered a broken leg when she was hit by a car while walking on the Interstate at milepost 99 Saturday night.

Idaho State Police said Victoria Beitz, 30, was hit by the mirror of an eastbound 2005 Pontiac driven by Thad Hollist, 28, of Rexburg, at about 10:20 p.m. She was taken by air ambulance from the scene.

ISP officers had responded to a report earlier that evening of a woman walking on the interstate at 9:45 p.m. that evening, and had contacted her at the milepost 95 exit. Apparently, after the ISP officers left, she continued on her way.

She was reported to be wearing a black shirt, black jeans and carrying a black bag at the time she was struck by the Hollist vehicle.

  • Why did the guy hit her? Was she in the road or on the side?
