Nicholas A. Aiken of Troop 57 has been awarded the rank of Eagle Scout -- The Boy Scouts of America's highest honor.

Troop 57, sponsored by First Congregational Church, held a Court of Honor April 15 to bestow the Eagle Badge.

Aiken, son of Jeffery and Stephanie Aiken of Mountain Home, attends Mountain Home High School and has been involved in Scouting since September 1998.

Nick's Eagle Scout Service Project was focused on fixing the "Snack Shack" building used by the Little League baseball program. He applied a new coat of paint, fixed the attached chain link fence, made a new sign, and provided a new window cover.

Local businesses that donated supplies were Jim's Lumber, C2 Construction, Wal-Mart, D&B Supply, and Carr's Lumber.

Nick Aiken, now 18, has also participated in fencing, National Youth Leadership Training with the Boy Scouts, golf, is co-founder of NerdFest, a newly establish club at the high school, and is a member of National Honor Society and the MHHS Book Club.

Nick's future plans include attending Idaho State University in the fall to pursue a degree in English, then to write and publish books.
