In support of the El-Ada Food Bank, Elmore County and the county commissioners have acquired a new van, a 1992 Dodge Ram, to aid El-Ada in collecting donations.

Three weeks ago, the commissioners came across the van after maintenance supervisor Dan Collins found the vehicle at a government surplus site in Boise.

Collins asked the commissioners for approval to purchase the van for $750, and the commissioners agreed.

Because the van was purchased through government surplus, El-Ada will not be able to gain full ownership of the van for one year. For this year, the county commissioners will lease the vehicle to El-Ada for one dollar.

"I hope that the van will aid in expanding El-Ada and that they would be able to pick even more donations," said County Commissioner Connie Cruser.

To prepare for the added food donations, El-Ada has recently purchased a commercial refrigerator and freezer.
